Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), is an energy healing based on traditional Chinese medicine concepts, using several core pressure points across the body as a type of emotional and physical first aid. EFT can be used for almost anything; overcoming emotional baggage, pain, anxiety, addiction, phobias, and much more. Professionally coached EFT works by getting to the root cause, or working through the layers of ‘aspects’ that a client comes with, the coaching and tapping process then provides ‘emotional freedom’ from any issue, and hence healing.
How Does it Work?
Whilst there are many pressure points across the whole body, there are several core pressure points that are commonly used as a type of emotional and physical first aid. You can use EFT for almost anything, overcoming emotional baggage, pain, anxiety, addiction, phobias, and much more. Professionally coached EFT works by getting to the root cause, or working through the layers of ‘aspects’ that a client comes with, the coaching and tapping process then provides ‘emotional freedom’ from any issue, and hence healing.
Alison blends this psychotherapy tool with coaching to provide you with the very best experience, in a peaceful, safe and relaxing space. Coaching with EFT can be done via video or conference call and works just as effectively. Some find that one session is enough, however, for long standing or deep rooted issues, you may need multiple sessions and can save money with a course of 4 or 6 sessions, an initial consultation will be included in your first treatment where you book a block. Self tapping and visualisation is recommended in-between sessions. The basic tapping sequence is easy to follow and can be done by yourself. Even self administered tapping can be effective for simple treatments that don’t have layers of associated, and often subconscious, issues.
I had coaching with Alison because I was experiencing low mood, anxiety, and anger. During the coaching Alison showed me how to tap [emotional freedom technique], it really helped me get my anxiety and anger under control and gave me something I could use outside of the sessions. We also unearthed where the anger was coming from so that I could move beyond it.
A bit of research
In a 2013 study of Bodily Maps of Emotions, researchers concluded that emotional feelings are associated with discrete, yet partially overlapping, maps of bodily sensations. They worked with over 700 subjects in 5 different experiments related to 13 human emotions. This is demonstrated quite nicely in the fact that the emotion of stress creates 1400 psychological changes in the body (including hormonal and chemical). It’s well evidenced that mind affects body, and body affects mind, they work together. You may have heard the term, ‘died of a broken heart’, where someone’s loss of a loved one is so intense, so encompassing, that their body literally gives up. A person who feels emotions of self worthlessness, for example, may feel pain in their physical body.
Gary Craig, creator and founder of EFT, shares thousands of case studies where EFT has performed the most wonderful healing in both physical and mental conditions. Gary is the creator of ‘The Unseen Therapist’.
Over the last fortnight I am amazed by the differences in me. My health, my attitude, my thoughts, my ability to deal with stress, my acceptance of things outside my control and of myself and others.
